Memphis International Records to Celebrate It’s 10th Anniversary

Memphis International Records is celebrating it’s tenth anniversary with three release in 2012. We are excited to be releasing the second record on Blues supergroup The South Memphis String Band in the Spring. SMSB members Luther Dickinson, Jimbo Mathus and Alvin Youngblood Hart recorded in December in Mathus’ studio in Clarksdale Mississippi in December. The results are a fantastic new record with originals and classics by blues legends like Furry Lewis and Gus Cannon.

The second release of 2012 will be a live recording by James Luther Dickinson and the North Mississippi Allstars titled "I’m Just Dead, I’m Not Gone". Recorded on Beale Street in 2006 it includes special guest Jimmy Davis. It was a special night and captured Dickinson and the Allstars at their best.

Our final release for 2012 will be a new Jimbo Mathus record that is planned to be recorded at his studio in Clarksdale and features the power house band The Tri State Coalition. Following his triumphant Confederate Buddha record on Memphis International, the new record promises more new music from one of the brightest stars in the hill country rock and roll legacy. Look for Blue Heeler in the late summer.
